Looking back in order to understand the here and now

It’s human nature to want change to happen immediately, whereas very few things in life are immediate; even coffee needs time to brew, a croissant time to bake! We humans are no different. To make any meaningful change in your life, you need to reflect, look at the bigger picture to understand why you are where you are, and grasp what is involved in making the change you want.

I work with clients from many walks of life, ranging from those working in business,  education, media, and sport,  and I have noticed that they often express frustration at not achieving what they know they are capable of, while those less skilled than them seem to power forward in life.

So what is at the core of the issue? What is it that holds some of us back? More often than not, it is something from the past, our past relationships with other people, and our relationship with ourselves.

I draw on relational and psychodynamic approaches to identify the unhelpful patterns and beliefs my clients unconsciously repeat. I also use hypnotherapy and NLP to help clients create new, more helpful ways of thinking about themselves and relating to others.

How we relate to others is important as we are social creatures, we are hard-wired to connect, and unless we decide to live a very solitary life, we cannot escape having to interact with others.
